ProFractional offers excellent resurfacing results with minimal downtime. This laser produces tiny channels of treated tissue while leaving surrounding tissue untouched. These micro channels promote your skin’s natural healing process, encouraging the formation of collagen for a firmer, more youthful and rejuvenated appearance. The treatment reduces the appearance of damaged tissue caused by sun exposure, aging or trauma.
ProFractional Laser is performed with a safe and highly effective erbium laser. It’s effective on all skin types, and on face and body.
Laser heats narrow micro-columns of tissue to variable depths, leaving the surrounding normal skin for quick healing time of 2-3 days. Skin appears tighter and smoother, wrinkles are less noticeable and pigment is reduced. You’ll see results immediately after treatment and will continue to improve during the weeks following.
What conditions can be treated?
Excellent results can be obtained in just one treatment, though the number of treatments may vary from patient to patient. Dr. Samuels can personalize a plan based on your specific needs and may choose to combine ProFractional Therapy with other aesthetic procedures.
Your skin is cleaned and your eyes are protected with safety shields. A laser handpiece is positioned gently on the skin. When laser energy is applied, you’ll hear a rapid succession of snapping sounds. The handpiece is moved to adjacent locations until the entire treatment area has been covered. The procedure normally takes 15-30 minutes.
ProFractional therapy is widely regarded as a comfortable procedure. We use a topical numbing cream or local anesthetic depending on the depth of treatment.
You may experience mild redness and a sensation resembling sunburn. Dr. Samuels will advise you on after-treatment care recommendations which may include pain relief and ointment to keep the skin moist.
Complete healing typically occurs within a few days and most patients usually feel comfortable enough to get back to work and apply makeup a day or two after the treatment. There may be some swelling that will subside within several days following treatment.
As your skin heals in the days following treatment, you may notice a general tightening effect. However, the true benefit of ProFractional is the collagen remodeling that occurs during the 4-6 months following your treatment.
