You sit fully clothed on a comfortable EMSELLA chair and relax, allowing the therapeutic fields to be aimed at the pelvic floor muscles. Unlike Kegel exercises, EMSELLA does the work for you, exercising your pelvic floor muscles much more completely and intensely than you could do on your own. Each session lasts 28 minutes; we recommend two sessions per week over a three-week period.

Dr. Samuels and her nurse providers tailor the strength of the HIFEM energy to your needs; a typical treatment session takes 28 minutes, and you will need 6 sessions to begin, scheduled twice a week. Some patients may require additional treatment sessions to achieve best results, and long-term maintenance is required annually as the aging process continues to negatively affect muscle strength. Maintenance packages are discounted for existing patients once results are achieved.
You will experience some tingling sensations and comfortably strong contractions of the muscles in the area as well as the pelvic floor muscles during the procedure. Patients are typically quite impressed at how strong yet totally comfortable the contractions are, and can’t help but realize that other alternatives such as Kegel exercises and physical therapy would obviously pale in comparison in their actual ability to truly “retrain” muscles such as the pelvic floor musculature, which is a structure that is very difficult to isolate and exercise, especially when it has weakened. You may resume your daily activities immediately after treatment.
