Are you struggling with droopy eyelids that make you look tired or affect your vision? A groundbreaking advancement in eyelid rejuvenation is here. Dr. Julene Samuels is proud to offer this cutting-edge treatment. For many patients, droopy eyelids have been a persistent concern affecting their appearance and daily function, making Upneeq® a welcome advancement in aesthetic medicine.
We’re proud to introduce Upneeq as the only FDA-approved prescription eye drop for low-lying lids (acquired ptosis) that lifts your upper lid to open your eyes. You’ll notice results in as little as 5-15 minutes, with results lasting up to 8 hours.
Acquired ptosis is a common medical condition that affects adults of all ages. It usually occurs when the eyelid muscles weaken and stretch, causing the lid to droop. Low-lying eyelids can affect your eyesight by reducing your field of vision, which may impact day-to-day functions such as reading, driving or looking upward.
Upneeq offers a wide range of benefits for those seeking to enhance their eyelid appearance and function:
Upneeq (oxymetazoline hydrochloride ophthalmic solution 0.1%) is a revolutionary nonsurgical treatment that stands as the first and only FDA-approved prescription eye drop for acquired ptosis, known as droopy eyelids. This once-daily prescription eye drop works by targeting the muscles responsible for lifting your upper eyelid, providing a noticeably more alert and refreshed appearance without surgery.
Many people don’t realize that droopy eyelids develop gradually over time due to aging, genetics or previous eye procedures. What makes Upneeq particularly remarkable is its ability to address this through a simple daily eye drop rather than surgical intervention.
Upneeq’s innovative formula stimulates Müller’s muscle, one of the key muscles responsible for lifting your lids. The active ingredient, oxymetazoline hydrochloride, works directly on this muscle, resulting in a higher lid position and a more open, refreshed eye appearance. This targeted approach means results can be seen within minutes of application and last throughout the day, with many patients reporting sustained benefits with consistent use.
The upper eyelid is controlled by several muscles working in harmony, including the levator palpebrae superioris. When muscles weaken or become less responsive over time, it can lead to acquired blepharoptosis, impacting both appearance and daily activities like reading, driving or using digital devices. Many patients report feeling more fatigued as they unconsciously strain to keep their eyes open throughout the day. Clinical studies have shown impressive results, with 87.8% of patients showing noticeable improvement in their eyelid positioning and effects appearing as quickly as 5 minutes after application.
The development process behind Upneeq involved extensive research and clinical trials, ensuring its safety and efficacy. Studies have demonstrated that the treatment improves eyelid position and helps address the functional aspects of ptosis, including enhanced visual fields and reduced eye strain. The carefully calibrated formulation ensures optimal results while maintaining comfort and ease of use.
When you visit A Woman’s Touch MD for Upneeq treatment, you can expect a comfortable and thorough experience beginning with your comprehensive consultation. During this initial visit, we will assess your eyelid condition, review your medical history and discuss your goals to determine if Upneeq is right for you. This detailed evaluation ensures you receive the most appropriate and effective treatment plan for your needs.
The treatment process is simple but effective:
While some patients report seeing initial improvements after their first Upneeq application, the full benefits typically become apparent with consistent daily use. The effectiveness builds over time, with many patients experiencing enhanced results as they maintain their daily application routine.
Results can include:
These results are maintained with continued daily use, and many patients report satisfaction with the immediate and long-term effects of treatment. The average improvement in eyelid lift is 1-2 millimeters, which can significantly affect appearance and function. Patients often report feeling more confident, with many noting that friends and family comment on their more refreshed appearance.

Upneeq is an eye drop inserted once a day, one drop per eye. Upneeq works by stimulating an involuntary eyelid muscle, the Muller’s muscle, to contract.
While the average amount of upper eyelid lift in clinical studies was 1 mm, this small lift can be cosmetically and/or medically beneficial to many patients. It does not provide the dramatic results possible with surgery.
Each dose (one drop daily) of Upneeq was shown to be effective for at least 6 hours in clinical studies.
Upneeq should be used only as prescribed: one dose, once daily. Dr. Samuels and her staff will help you decide how long it is appropriate to use Upneeq,.
If you have mild, moderate, or severe eyelid ptosis (sagging) and you do not take any medications that will interfere with Upneeq, then you may be a good candidate for the eye-lifting drop. Dr. Samuels and her nurse providers help determine if you’re a good candidate based on your medical history. Upneeq may affect blood pressure and amine metabolism and may interfere with certain prescription medications, including:
Yes, Upneeq may be used to treat Botox-induced droopy eyelids. The effects of drooping eyelids after Botox injections are temporary; while Botox wears off after 3-4 months, the unwanted effects on the eyelid muscle typically wear off even more quickly. Upneeq may be used in the interim to stimulate the eyelid to elevate more normally.
If you’re suffering the effects of Botox migrating to your eyelids, Upneeq can help.
If you experience Botox-induced eyelid ptosis, be sure to disclose this to Dr. Samuels and her nurse providers. We can adjust placement of your future injections to prevent the issue.
